The Retired Police Association of the State of New York, Inc. (RPA) is the statewide association serving retired police officers who served in police departments throughout New York State.

Founded in 1950, RPA exists to keep retired New York police officers informed, represented and connected throughout retirement — regardless of where they now live.

RPA is not limited to one town, village, city, county or police department. Membership brings together eligible retired police officers from departments and communities throughout New York State.

The Retired Police Association of the State of New York identifies itself as the only statewide organization representing retired police officers from New York State, providing a collective voice and statewide community for officers after active service ends.

Who RPA Represents

RPA membership includes eligible retired police officers who served at any rank in police departments located within New York State.

Today, members represent more than 290 different police departments and live throughout New York and across the United States.

What connects RPA members is not where they live today. It is their service as New York police officers and the retirement issues they continue to share.

Our History

Serving Retired New York Police Officers for Generations

For more than seven decades, RPA has brought retired New York police officers together through advocacy, information, representation and fellowship.

1950

RPA Is Established

The Retired Police Association of the State of New York is established to unite retired police officers and represent their shared interests in retirement.

1983

A Continuing Voice in Albany

RPA establishes an ongoing presence in Albany through participation with statewide public-retiree organizations, strengthening its ability to follow and participate in issues affecting retired officers.

Today

More Than 5,000 Members

RPA has grown into a statewide community of more than 5,000 retired police officers representing over 290 New York police departments.
